Aabaster's called: "the stone of light" thanks to its characteristic translucency, that makes it perfect for the creation of unique and precious lighting fixtures.
An ancient process that has projected the echo of ancient workers into the future.
Alabaster has been worked since the Etruscan era, which has always appreciated and enhanced its characteristics. For some details it is still worked as it was almost 3,000 years ago, while for more modern productions it has evolved and adapted to processes very similar to the marble's ones, but still maintaining its fundamental characteristics for the lighting sector.
In the past it has been used as an alternative or addition to the architectural windows of famous churches and cathedrals from all over Europe. Like: the cathedral of Orvieto, the splendid colored windows of the monastery in cister Canas La Rioja Spain, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Cistercian monastery near Frosinone just to name a few.
Before the worked and painted glass, architecture tended to use the same construction materials to define both internal and external spaces.
In this perspective, alabaster was the optimal solution to protect from the elements and allow sunlight to illuminate the interior even though partially.
In fact: if in some ways alabster could not offer the same result as glass in terms of brightness, for others it was perfect, for example: the intimacy of the collection in prayer and the search for closeness to God.
Unlike other materials used in the lighting field, each composition made of Alabaster is unique and unrepeatable.
Being a natural stone, each batch is presented with: different veins, colors and characteristics. The lighting fixture you purchase, whatever it is, will therefore be a unique and unrepeatable creation that will make your room even more special and precious.
